The Device as a Service model – a milestone towards optimisation

Predictions regarding the global Device as a Service (DaaS) market indicate that it will grow fivefold over the next few years. In Poland, more than half of large companies and nearly half of medium-sized enterprises are already interested in leasing equipment as an alternative to purchasing. Device as a Service is a business model in which companies rent computer equipment and other devices instead of buying them. But that’s not all – within this solution, the service provider ensures, manages, and supports the devices throughout their entire lifecycle. Both DaaS and outsourcing equipment management are becoming increasingly popular in Poland.

With DaaS, companies can focus on their core competencies while the providers take care of comprehensive device management. This allows for cost reduction and increases operational flexibility and scalability, enabling companies to grow dynamically in a changing business environment.

Today, access to technical support that is independent of the employee’s location is crucial for effective work. Many employers offer remote or hybrid work options and have teams in various branches. The DaaS model provides IT support, which gives employees greater freedom of action and improves the quality of their work. Companies, in turn, can dynamically adapt to changing conditions. Managing corporate equipment within the DaaS framework also reflects greater environmental care. Leasing and regular servicing align with the principles of the circular economy, as they ensure that devices can have a second life after the contract ends. According to experts, the DaaS model positively impacts a company’s finances. By shifting capital expenditures to operating expenses, it provides businesses with predictable and controllable spending while equipping employees with the latest work tools. Moreover, it allows for the flexible exchange of equipment for the latest models without the high costs of one-time purchases.

Every company possesses a significant amount of equipment, such as laptops, computers, and phones, managed by the IT department – from deployment, i.e., corporate onboarding, through software configuration, to ongoing application installations and repairs. Managing these devices consumes considerable time resources that could be utilized for more strategic needs. The Device as a Service model allows for the quick and efficient implementation of new technologies within the organization, regularly updating them to the latest solutions without simultaneously engaging large internal resources.
