➡️ Employment of foreigners from Ukraine
The ongoing war in Ukraine has forced thousands of citizens of that country to leave their homes and seek refuge abroad, including in Poland.
An employer who decides to employ a foreigner is obliged to take steps to legalize the right to work of such a person in Poland. It is his responsibility to apply to the relevant entities with documents that will enable legal employment of a citizen from outside the European Union.
According to the new regulations, the employer must notify the competent labor office within 14 days of entrusting work to such foreigner. Registration is now possible via a website – praca.gov.pl.
New procedures were introduced by the law on aid to Ukraine, passed in recent days. According to the regulations, Ukrainian refugees who came to Poland after February 24, 2022 will be able – after confirming their identity – to obtain a PESEL number, and their stay in our country will be considered legal for 18 months.
The process of assigning a PESEL number to Ukrainian citizens who fled the war started on Wednesday, March 16. After assigning a PESEL number, Ukrainians will be able to start working in Poland.
➡️ These new rules were adopted by the government regulate formally the assistance to Ukrainian citizens fleeing to Poland from the war – also include:
-possibility of training – on the same terms as Polish citizens,
-set up of the Assistance Fund,
– government support for local municipalities, including schools,
-one-time PLN 300 per person in the family for refugees from Ukraine,
-access to the National Health Fund (financed from the government).
With these special regulations, the employment of a Ukrainian citizen by a Polish employer has become formally easier, because the procedure is less complicated and the employee is not attached only to a single firm that initially hired them.
